Participation requirements & health

The Gravel Games are open to everyone, licensed and non-licensed alike.

The participation requirements below are designed to guarantee the safety of participants while making it easier to take part in the event, in compliance with current regulations.

In short

Gravel Running (running events)

Adult participants: FFA (French Athletics Federation) licence (Compétition, Running or Entreprise) or a valid PPS (French Health Prevention Pass, mandatory for non-licensed runners).

Minor participants: Health questionnaire and a declaration from a legal guardian (or a medical certificate if necessary).

Gravel Cycling (cycling events)

Adult participants: Valid FFC (French Cycling Federation) licence, FFC Pass Découverte, or a medical certificate of no contraindication to competitive cycling dated less than one year ago.

Minor participants: Health questionnaire and a declaration from a legal guardian (or a medical certificate if necessary).

PPS (French Health Prevention Pass): pps.athle.fr — an individual insurance cover suited to your activity is strongly recommended.

Gravel Running

Gravel Running events are open to all participants meeting the following requirements.

Adult participants

Two options:

  • hold a valid FFA licence (Compétition, Running or Entreprise); or
  • present a valid PPS (French Health Prevention Pass).

The PPS, issued by the French Athletics Federation, replaces the medical certificate for running competitions in accordance with current regulations.

It can be obtained in a few minutes via an online awareness course at pps.athle.fr. It is valid for one year and costs €5.

Minor participants

Minor participants must complete a health questionnaire with their legal guardian. If it reveals no contraindication, a signed declaration will be enough to validate the entry. Otherwise, a medical certificate will be required.

Gravel Cycling

Gravel Cycling events are organised outside the federal calendar.

Adult participants

Participants must present one of the following three documents:

  • a valid FFC licence;
  • an FFC Pass Découverte; or
  • a medical certificate of no contraindication to competitive cycling dated less than one year ago.

Minor participants

Minor participants must complete a health questionnaire with their legal guardian. If it reveals no contraindication, a signed declaration will be enough to validate the entry. Otherwise, a medical certificate will be required.

Insurance

In accordance with Article L321-4 of the French Sports Code, organisers of sporting events are required to inform participants of the existence and scope of the insurance cover they have taken out, and to remind them of the value of holding insurance cover suited to their practice.

Wish One Racing, the association organising the Gravel Games, has taken out an Organiser's Public Liability insurance policy with Allianz (policy no. 64783806).

This insurance covers exclusively the organisation's civil liability within the framework of the event. It does not replace participants' personal insurance cover.

It is each participant's responsibility to check that they hold cover suited to their practice (civil liability, personal accident, assistance, repatriation, equipment damage, etc.) and, where appropriate, to take out any additional cover they consider necessary.
