Sporting Rules

Article 1
Organisation
The Gravel Games are organised by the association Wish One Racing.
Registering for any of the activities on offer implies full and unreserved acceptance of these rules.
The organisation reserves the right to amend these rules at any time should circumstances require it (safety, weather conditions, administrative or military constraints). Any amendment will be communicated to participants before the start of the races.
Article 2
The races
The Gravel Games bring together the event's two founding disciplines: Gravel Running and Gravel Cycling.

Distances are given for guidance only and may be slightly adjusted by the organisation.
Article 3
Eligibility
The races are open to participants who are at least 16 years old on the day of the event.
Underage participants must provide a parental authorisation signed by their legal guardian.
Each participant confirms that they are physically fit to complete the chosen race and agrees to comply with these rules.
3.1 — Gravel Running
Adult participants
To take part in the Gravel Running races, participants must:
- hold a valid FFA (French Athletics Federation) licence (Compétition, Running or Entreprise);
- or present a valid PPS (French Health Prevention Pass, mandatory for non-licensed runners), obtained at pps.athle.fr.
Underage participants
Underage participants must complete a health questionnaire with their legal guardian. If the questionnaire reveals a contraindication to sporting activity, a medical certificate stating no contraindication to competitive running will be required.
3.2 — Gravel Cycling
The Gravel Cycling races are organised outside the federal calendar.
Adult participants
Participants must present one of the following three documents:
- a valid FFC (French Cycling Federation) licence;
- an FFC Discovery Pass;
- or a medical certificate stating no contraindication to competitive cycling, dated less than one year before the event.
Underage participants
Underage participants must complete a health questionnaire with their legal guardian. If the questionnaire reveals a contraindication to sporting activity, a medical certificate will be requested.
Article 4
Rankings
A ranking will be established for each timed race: Men's Scratch and Women's Scratch.
A Gravel Games combined ranking will reward participants who complete both the 20 km Gravel Running and the 105 km Gravel Cycling races. The ranking will be established by adding together the times achieved in both races. In the event of a tie, the best time recorded on the 105 km Gravel Cycling race will separate the competitors.
Hikes and untimed rides are not subject to any ranking.
Article 5
Starts
Start times will be communicated ahead of the event.
Each participant must report to their starting pen within the indicated timeframe. Any early start may result in a penalty or disqualification.
Article 6
Courses
The courses are fully marked. Participants agree to:
- follow the official course exclusively;
- pass through all checkpoints;
- respect marshals, volunteers and safety teams;
- not take any shortcuts.
Any breach may result in a penalty or disqualification.
Article 7
Rules specific to Gravel Running
The bib number must be worn visibly throughout the race.
Outside assistance is only permitted in the areas designated by the organisation.
Depending on weather conditions, certain equipment may be made mandatory (water supply, mobile phone, windbreaker, etc.).
Article 8
Equipment
Each participant is responsible for their own equipment and must start with gear suited to the distance, the weather conditions and their own level of practice.
The organisation reserves the right to inspect participants' equipment before the start and during the races.
8.1 — Gravel Running
Mandatory
- Official bib number worn visibly on the front.
- Footwear suited to trail running.
Recommended
- Water supply suited to the distance.
- Charged mobile phone.
- Windbreaker or waterproof clothing depending on weather conditions.
- Food supply.
The organisation may make some or all of this equipment mandatory depending on weather conditions.
8.2 — Gravel Cycling
Mandatory
- Approved helmet worn and fastened throughout the race.
- Bike in perfect working order.
- Official bib number fitted in accordance with the organisation's instructions.
Strongly recommended
- Charged mobile phone.
- At least one spare inner tube or a tubeless repair kit.
- Pump or CO₂ cartridge.
- Multi-tool.
- Sufficient water supply.
- Food supply.
- Windbreaker or waterproof jacket depending on weather conditions.
The organisation may make some of this equipment mandatory depending on weather conditions or course constraints.
Inspection
Any participant whose equipment is deemed clearly insufficient or dangerous may be refused the start or withdrawn from the race by the race management, without this decision giving rise to any refund of entry fees.
Article 9
Cut-off time
To ensure participants' safety and the smooth running of the race, a cut-off time is set on the 105 km Gravel Cycling race.
Competitors must have passed the checkpoint located at kilometre 70 before 1:30 pm.
Participants arriving after this time will be withdrawn from the 105 km race. They will be directed to a return route defined by the organisation or taken care of according to arrangements decided by the race management.
This decision is taken solely for safety reasons.
Article 10
The Gravel Games Spirit
The Gravel Games are far more than a sporting event.
By taking the start, each participant agrees to:
- respect the land that hosts the event;
- respect other participants, volunteers, local residents and emergency teams;
- show fair play at all times;
- assist anyone in difficulty;
- preserve the natural areas crossed by leaving no waste on the course.
The land is the true protagonist of the Gravel Games. Through their behaviour, each participant helps preserve this exceptional heritage.
Article 11
Penalties and disqualification
The organisation may impose a penalty or disqualification in the event of:
- failure to follow the course;
- absence at a checkpoint;
- littering outside designated areas;
- assistance outside authorised areas;
- failure to wear a helmet in the Gravel Cycling races;
- dangerous or unsporting behaviour;
- failure to follow instructions from volunteers or the race management;
- failure to comply with a cut-off time;
- use of a non-compliant bike;
- fraud or deliberate provision of false information when registering.
The decisions of the race management are final.
Article 12
Safety
The organisation may, at any time:
- alter a course;
- neutralise part of a race;
- delay a start;
- interrupt a race;
- cancel an activity,
should weather conditions, constraints related to the Camp général de Castelnau or any other safety reason require it.
For safety reasons, the event doctor, the emergency teams or the race management may decide to withdraw a participant whose state of health no longer allows them to continue the race.
Article 13
Insurance
Civil liability
In accordance with applicable legislation, the association Wish One Racing, organiser of the Gravel Games, has taken out insurance covering the financial consequences of its own civil liability, that of its staff and volunteers, as well as, within the limits set out in the policy, the civil liability that may be incurred by participants during the event.
This cover applies in addition to, or failing that, in place of, any personal insurance participants may otherwise hold. A certificate of insurance may be provided upon simple request.
Personal accident insurance
Participants are strongly advised to take out personal accident insurance. Each participant is invited to check that the cover they hold is suited to competitive sporting activity.
Participants without sufficient cover are advised to take out supplementary insurance covering in particular:
- bodily injury;
- medical expenses;
- search and rescue costs;
- assistance;
- repatriation;
- damage to equipment.
The organisation may offer a partner insurance solution at the time of registration.
Material damage
The organiser accepts no liability in the event of loss, theft, breakage or damage to participants' personal belongings.
Each participant remains solely responsible for the safekeeping of their equipment, including their bike, sporting gear and personal belongings.
Article 14
Withdrawal
Any withdrawal must be reported as soon as possible to a volunteer, a marshal or the race management.
Any participant withdrawn from the race must comply with the organisation's instructions.
Article 15
Complaints
Any complaint must be submitted to the race management within a maximum of 30 minutes after the provisional results are posted.
After review by the race jury, its decision will be final and without appeal.
Article 16
Image rights
By registering, each participant grants free authorisation to the association Wish One Racing and to the Gravel Games' partners to use photographs and videos taken during the event on any communication medium, without time limitation, in accordance with applicable legislation.
Article 17
Personal data protection
Personal data collected at registration is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
It is used solely for organising the Gravel Games and is only shared with providers involved in the event.
Each participant has the right to access, rectify, object to, restrict and erase their personal data, in accordance with applicable regulations.
